First Reconciliation/ Communion Sacramental Preparation 2024-2025
 
At St. James Parish, we have Sacramental Preparation classes in addition to the faith formation that your child receives either at St. James School or at Sunday FF classes.  You will do some sessions at home with your child.  We will meet eight times throughout the year. We ask during these classes that a parent accompany the child receiving the sacramental preparation.  Listed below are the dates, times, and a short explanation of the class.  Please mark these dates on your calendar and plan to attend with your child.
 
 
Sunday, Sept. 29th, 10:00AM- Parents ONLY In-Service in Tobin Hall.  Please bring your child’s Baptismal certificate if they were NOT baptized at St. James. Parents will receive a packet of information and schedule as well as choosing their child’s prayer partner for the year.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 9th, 6:00PM- 7:30PM- Session #1 “God Chooses Me”; Meet in Tobin Hall. This is the first session of Reconciliation Preparation.  Session #2 “I Grow Closer to Jesus” will be sent home- Bring completed packet back on Oct. 16^th. 
 
Wednesday, Oct. 16th, 5:30 PM- 7:30PM- Session #3 “I Learn About Rules of Love”; Meet in Tobin Hall. We will serve supper from 5:30PM-6PM where you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s prayer partner. Prayer partners will present the children with crosses during the Prayer Service starting at 6PM. Session #4 “I Disobey the Rules Sometimes” will be sent home- Bring completed packet back on Oct. 23rd^th.
 
Wednesday, Oct.23rd, 6:00PM- 7:30PM - Session #5 “Being Sorry; Asking Forgiveness”; Meet in Tobin Hall.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 30th, 6:00PM- 8:00PM  - Session #6 “Reconciliation: Let’s Celebrate”; Meet in Tobin Hall.  This is the final preparation for Reconciliation.  Individual confessions for children and parents will begin at 7:00 in the Church. 
 
Wednesday, April 2nd,  6:00PM-8:00PM- Session #1 “Everyone Arrives for Mass”; Meet in Tobin Hall.  This will be the first session of Eucharistic Preparation.  We will hand out the banner kits. Session #2 “We Listen to the Readings & the Homily” will be sent home- Bring completed packet back on April 9^th.
 
Wednesday, April 9th, 6:00PM- 8:00PM- Session #3 “We Offer Ourselves & All that We Have”; Meet in Tobin Hall. Session #4 “We Pray in Thanksgiving” will be sent home- Bring completed packet back April 16^th.
 
Wednesday, April 16th, 6:00PM-8:00PM - Session #5 “We Receive Holy Communion”; Meet in Tobin Hall. We will collect the banners. 
 
Wednesday, April 23rd, 6:00PM-8:00PM - Session #6 “We Are Sent Out to Change the World”; Meet in Tobin Hall.  We will end this session with a practice at the church. Please bring your child’s baptismal candle.
 
Sunday, April 27th  –First Communion Mass  -The children will receive their First Holy Communion during 9:00AM Mass or the 11:30AM Mass. Picture and gathering times will be announced.
